Update on Anti-Obesity Medications

Session Objectives

1.  Recognize the rationale for using anti-obesity medications.
2.  Utilize FDA approved medications for obesity treatment.
3.  Identify the role of medications not approved by the FDA in weight management.
4.  Identify medications under investigation for obesity treatment.

   The North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Pennings is Chair of the Family Medicine Department, Associate Professor at the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine and Director of the Campbell University Health Center.   He is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is Board Certified in Family Medicine & Obesity Medicine.   Dr. Pennings is a fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association and an Executive Director of Clinical Education for the OMA.
