Saito was Ueshiba’s uchi-deshi.
In O-Sensei’s absence, Saito Sensei conducted regular classes at the Iwama dojo.
In fact, he was the only person allowed to
teach Aikido with weapons alongside O-Sensei.
After the death of Morihei, Ueshiba became the head of the Ibaraki dojo in Iwama,
as well as the guardian of the Aiki Shrine (Aikido temple in Iwama).
Morihiro Saito systematized and made the teaching of Aikido more pedagogical,
he translated the Founder’s techniques into unique training forms.
For the rest of his life, he used these forms in order
for students to more effectively understand the Aikido taught by the Founder.
Morihiro Saito died on May 15, 2002.
The film shows how to work with a sword. The principles of possession, the nuances of each movement, the
secrets of mastery – all this is presented in a teaching form that is
understandable even for beginners. There are also unarmed techniques.
