This lecture will analyze the differences among various cultural, religious, gender identifications to optimize physician-patient relationships and patient well-being.

- Differentiate between explicit and implicit bias.
- Identify resources for learning about individual implicit bias.
- Analyze the cinematic roles in the development of implicit bias.
- Develop strategies to recognize, curiously explore, and challenge implicit bias.
Dr. Katie Davenport-Kabonic is a graduate of the AT Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM), where she graduated with honors, and in 2012 was selected as a MAOPS Wetzel Scholar. She completed her residency at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. She completed her Obstetrics fellowship at Cox Family Medicine in Springfield, Missouri. She currently serves Cox Health Family Medicine with Obstetrics as a Faculty Physician and is the SWMO AHEC – Springfield Director of Student Medical Education in Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Davenport-Kabonic is also an active member of the MAOPS Education and Convention Committee, the KCOM Curriculum Committee, the Lead Physician for the Walk With A Doc program, and recently obtained her Ozark Mountain Yoga, RYS 200 certification.
