OMT for Headaches
Session Objectives
- Discuss how osteopathic principles can be incorporated into the management of headaches.
- Describe how treatment of relevant body regions may beneficially effect the pathophysiology of headaches.
- Apply a treatment strategy using common osteopathic manipulative treatment techniques to decrease headache symptoms.
- Review how to bill for osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) as a physician.
The North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Gish joined the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine family in June of 2017 as the Associate Dean for Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Integration and Associate Professor in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Additionally, he became the Program Director for the Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency program in May 2019. A 1990 cum laude graduate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy, Dr. Gish practiced pharmacy for 3 years prior to matriculating into the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center at Fort Worth – Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSCFW-TCOM).
