Alan Freed has represented clients in family law cases since 1983, focusing on a problem-solving approach to resolving family law issues, with an emphasis on mediation and collaborative practice, along with a substantial appellate practice. He has practiced with Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal, PC, since its founding in 1994. Mr. Freed is co-author of -Missouri Appellate Practice Vol. 24, 2nd, West Group. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is listed in “Best Lawyers in America” and “Missouri Kansas Super Lawyers.” “Best Lawyers named Mr. Freed -Lawyer of the Year for St. Louis in 2013 and 2018 in the field of Collaborative Law: Family, in 2017 for Mediation, and in 2015 for Family Law Mediation. He was also selected as -Best Mediation Attorney in a 2009 Missouri Lawyers Weekly poll. In 2009 Mr. Freed, with Alisse Camazine, wrote Divorce in Missouri, a practical layman’s guide. Mr. Freed is a founding member of the Collaborative Family Law Association and is also a past president of Kids In the Middle. Mr. Freed is member of AFCC. He has presented in conferences, both locally and nationally, on family law and mediation topics. Mr. Freed has published numerous articles in his fields, is the author of the chapter on Mediation and Other Forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution for the MoBar Family Law CLE Deskbook, and contributed a chapter titled -Mental Health and Financial Experts: Key Components of the Collaborative Process, in “Understanding Collaborative Family Law” (Aspatore, 2011). From 2001 to 2016, he served as adjunct Professor at Washington University School of Law, teaching Family Mediation.

Mr. Freed received his B. Mus. from Kent State University in 1974 and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1983.

The Honorable Susan S. Jensen practiced family law in Springfield before being appointed as Family Court Commissioner, Division II, for Greene County in 2016. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Commissioner Jensen graduated from William Jewell College and the University of Iowa College Of Law.

James T. McLaren maintains a statewide family law practice emphasizing complex marital litigation in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a partner in the law firm of McLaren & Lee. He has served the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in various capacities since becoming a Fellow, including National President in 2015. He received the AAML Fellow of the Year from the Academy in 2007 and the AAML Professionalism Award in 2020. He serves on various Academy Committees. He has served on the Board of the AAML Foundation, where he currently serves on the Advisory Board. For the South Carolina Chapter of the Academy, he has served as President and National Delegate. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and currently serves on the Executive Committee. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. He is currently the South Carolina Chapter President for the International Network of Boutique Law Firms. He currently serves on the South Carolina Bar Family Law Council and was appointed to the President’s Task Force on Alimony. Mr. McLaren has been named in the Best Lawyers in America, Family Law Designation, since 1993, received an -AV designation from Martindale Hubbell since 1996, and has been named in the South Carolina Super Lawyers publication since 2008. He is a contributing author to the South Carolina Equitable Apportionment Act ( §20-7-741, et. seq., S.C. Code of Laws) and the South Carolina Alimony Statute ( §20-3-130, South Carolina Code of Laws). Mr. McLaren received his undergraduate degree (1973) from the University of South Carolina and Juris Doctorate degree (1976) from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was admitted to practice in 1976 and has maintained a private practice in Columbia, South Carolina since that time. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit, U.S. District Court, South Carolina District, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a frequent speaker on various family law topics for the South Carolina Bar, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, American Bar Association, South Carolina Association for Justice and Mandatory Judicial and Continuing Legal Education Seminars. He has been a faculty member of the ABA/NITA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute, offered annually in Boulder, Colorado.

Commissioner Sherrill L. Rosen was appointed Commissioner in 1994. She helped draft Missouri’s adult abuse act and handled the constitutional challenge to it. She often served as a guardian ad litem. She received the KCMBA Moorhouse Dedication to Children award, and is a MOLW Women’s Justice Award winner.

Boone County Courthouse

Hon. Leslie Schneider, Associate Circuit Judge, Division X, was elected to the court in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014. Division X handles all family law matters including juvenile, dissolution of marriage, adult abuse dockets. Judge Schneider serves as the administrative judge of the Family Court.   Judge Schneider is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law, with an undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Prior to election to the court, Judge Schneider was in private practice in Columbia with the law firm of Harper, Evans, Schneider and Netemeyer. Judge Schneider was previously Municipal Judge for the City of Columbia and an Assistant Attorney General. Judge Schneider is a founding member of the Elwood Thomas Inn of Court. She is a member of the Committee on Access to Family Courts and Family Court Committee.   She has been an adjunct faculty the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law where she teaches family law. Judge Schneider’s husband Tom is a practicing attorney in Columbia. They have two children and two grandchildren.

He is a former President of the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association. He has lectured for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a frequent lecturer for the Missouri Bar and other CLE programs. He is a Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Pittsburg State University Foundation.

Dick Whiting graduated from Presbyterian College in 1972. Upon his graduation from PC, Dick returned to his hometown of Miami, Florida and entered the international shipping business. He received his Master’s in Business Administration from Florida International University in 1980 and returned to South Carolina that same year. Dick graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in December of 1982. Since his graduation from law school, Dick has practiced primarily in the area of Family Law and Federal and State -Wiretap Law.

Dick has held various offices with the Family Law Section Council of the South Carolina Bar (including now being a past president) and currently serves in the House of Delegates. He is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Dick’s practice continues to emphasize Family Law and Electronic Communication Privacy Law. He has been a speaker on numerous Continuing Legal Education Seminars and other forums including presentations at the newly elected Judges’ orientation school, to private investigators, and to other groups interested with privacy issues.
