)ContentThe first section, How to Close the Distance covers how to go into a clinch, take a challenger to the ground and get the mount position.
This is taken from a self-defense point of view.
The tactic shown is to duck under a punch and slip into a body hold.
From there a hip throw or leg sweep is used for the takedown.
As your challenger goes down, you step over them to end up in the mount.
How to Escape fm the Mounted Position covers the basic arch and roll type escape (commonly called upa) and a basic sliding escape (elbow knee escape).
How to Pass the Guard covers a simplified version of how to pass by inserting an arm under one of your challenger’s legs and pressing it forward onto his chest.
The method shown is a constant source of controversy, since it can easily lead to your own submission rather than a guard pass.
A player needs to know much more than just what is shown to be practical.
How to Escape From Headlocks provides a nice set of contingency based techniques for escaping a head hold from the side mount position.
Many of these escapes end in position for an arm lock submission.
Finishing Holds covers a few arm locks and a choke.
