Add. Information : Minoru Kanetsuka was born in Tokyo in 1939. The Kanetsuka clan is an ancient samurai clan from Satsuma, the ancestors of sensei have long served in the navy. He began studying aikido in 1957 as a student at Takushoku University in Tokyo, under the guidance of Fujita-sensei and Shioda-sensei (the founder of the Yoshinkan, from whom he later received 2nd dan). After graduating from university in 1964, he went to Nepal, where he taught aikido to the Royal Family and the Nepal police for eight years.
In 1972, Kanetsuka-sensei moved to the UK and became assistant technical director of the UK Aikikai, Chiba-sensei, who has led the organization since its founding in 1968. It was Chiba-sensei who inspired Kanetsuka-sensei to open his own dojo in London and suggested the name 流 心 館, in English transcription Ryushinkan, in Russian – Ryushinkan or Ryushinkan, which can be translated as “school of relaxed consciousness”. In 1973, Kanetsuka-sensei opens a dojo in the premises of the renowned judo dojo Renshuden on Albany Street.
After Chiba-sensei left the UK for Japan in 1977, Minoru Kanetsuka became the technical director of BAF – British Aikido Federation. In this capacity, Kanetsuka-sensei, holder of the 7th dan Aikido Aikikai, is currently the official representative of the Aikikai Hombu Dojo (headquarters of the World Aikido Center in Tokyo) in the United Kingdom.
