Dr. Carrington is an Iowa native and a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he earned a dual-degree; Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and Masters of Healthcare Administration. He went on to do his residency in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University – Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, located in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. During his fellowship, he also served as a Chief Fellow and was awarded “Research Fellow of the Year” and “House Officer of the Year.” Dr. Carrington is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
His research interests were in the inflammatory pathways of inhalational lung injury and recovery, including IL-6 and IL-10. Ā His research was presented at the American College of Chest Physicians annual conference, where he was awarded for giving one of the top five presentations. Since returning to Iowa, he works at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, as an Intensivist and Pulmonologist.
