Attendees of this session will gain a broader knowledge of routine childhood vaccines, including when they are typically given, and what to consider if given later than recommended. Ā Attendees will also gain experience with using the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) with patient cases. Ā Lastly, techniques to vaccinate young patients will be discussed.
Objectives:
- Evaluate the Childhood Vaccine Schedule and Catch-Up Schedule
- Apply the Childhood Vaccine Schedule to some patient cases
- Describe the common techniques that pharmacists can use to administer vaccines to children
Continuing Education:
This presentation is being submitted to the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy for Continuing Education credit approval (one hour).
To receive Board of Pharmacy credits for this program, the following must be completed:
- Full participation/completion of webinar either during the live program or the archived presentation
- Completion of survey post webinar acknowledging participation
Board of Pharmacy credit processing takes place on the 15th of each month.

Dr. Ann Philbrick is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Pharmaceutical Care and Health Systems (College of Pharmacy) and the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (Medical School). Ā She graduated with a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and went on to complete a PGY1 And PGY2 residency in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Ā She currently practices at Bethesda Family Medicine Clinic, the longitudinal clinic site of the University of Minnesota Family Medicine Residency Program. Ā Her teaching, research, and patient care activities focus on the role of a pharmacist in this interprofessional setting, vaccine preventable diseases and medical cannabis.

Fairview Pharmacy Services
Michelle Johnson is a pharmacist for M Health Fairview, where she has worked since 2014. Ā She is a Pharmacist Supervisor for the Ambulatory Anticoagulation Clinics. Ā Michelle graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in 1997 with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Ā Michelle attained BPS certification in Ambulatory Care in 2014. Ā Previous to joining Fairview Pharmacy, Michelle worked for the Fond du Lac Reservation in Cloquet, MN for two and a half years, where she helped develop and work under collaborative protocols, and started a pharmacist run anticoagulation program. Ā Michelle worked for 14 years at Goodrich Pharmacy. Ā While at Goodrich she created and practiced under collaborative protocols, and established & practiced MTM in 2 new clinical practice sites within a partnering clinic. Ā Other areas of interest include public health, immunizations and women’s health. Ā She has collaborated with the Minnesota Department of Health for many years with their Mark of Excellence Program, MN Vaccines For Children, and integrating pharmacy into emergency preparedness plans. Ā Michelle has served as a Minnesota Pharmacist Association board member since 2014, and has been a member of Minnesota Department of Health’s Pandemic Preparedness Workgroup, and the National Association of County and City Health Officials Pharmacy Partners Workgroup. Ā She also is an active American Pharmacist Association member, with a published article in 2010 in JAPHA. Ā She has been recognized in 2002 by MPHA as a Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year, 2007 by APHA as a One to One Patient Counseling Recognition Recipient, and 2011 by APHA as an individual Immunization Champion Award winner.
