This workshop will present how Solution-Focused Brief Therapists (SFBT) utilize expectation to help move clients toward goals. Workshop participants will be given the skills to understand how the basic principles, questions and interventions in SFBT all utilize expectation as a primary change agent. Further, participants will be shown ways to develop Solution-Focused Formula Tasks to incorporate expectation for positive client movement.
Educational Objectives:
- To describe two ways the use of expectation can move clients toward goals.
- To list two skills necessary in the use of expectation in SFBT.

Dr. Michael Reiter earned his Masters and Doctoral degrees from The George Washington University and completed his pre-doctoral internship at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He then served as program psychologist in a pediatric and adolescent clinic at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Reiter subsequently worked with adolescents, young adults, and families at Alvord, Baker and Associates, in Rockville, MD. He currently sees clients in his private practice in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Reiter lives in Maryland with his wife, two children, and two dogs.
