He has authored numerous articles which have appeared in Black Belt, Inside Karate, Dojo, Karate Profiles, Samurai, Kick & Punch, and Sport Karate International, and he serves as a Board Member of various traditional martial arts organizations worldwide.
Hanshi Heilman was a senior student of the late Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo Grand Master Seikichi Odo (1926-2002), Okinawa, Japan.
