This is a collection of releases by the Born Warriors project,
basically combining all three previous DVD’s and a bonus disc. Some
footage is repeated because of this, you’ll notice when you watch it.Disc
1 – Born Warriors – In this first documentary, shot before Myanmar’s
era of democratic reform, we are taken into the world of bare-knuckle
fighting that has mostly survived in rural villages; we witness the
unbridled sacrifice and passion of a small group of promoters, fighters
and trainers who attempt to keep the sport alive in the major cities in
spite of an obvious lack of means and support.Disc 2 – Born
Warriors Redux – Born Warriors Redux returns to the indigenous Burmese
sport of Lethwei as its practitioners grapple with an unusual series of
challenges stemming from the opening of Myanmar to the outside world.
Lethwei is an ancient bare-knuckle fighting sport that once prepared men
for combat and served as a rite of passage into manhood. Today, the
sport is a symbol of strength and athletic prowess for the people of
Myanmar, who for decades have been beaten down and stripped of their
pride and dignity by a brutal military dictatorship. This fascinating
first-hand account of Lethwei was filmed in various locations throughout
Myanmar.Disc 3 – Born Warriors, Bound Fists – Born Warriors
Redux: Bound Fists offers unprecedented access and a unique arsenal of
rare footage to probe the modern and ancient world of Lethwei and show
how its deep cultural roots and traditions continue to echo and retain
meaning in Myanmar’s fast-changing world. This special Director’s
edition edit expands on and goes deeper into competitions in the rural
arenas.Disc 4 – Bonus disc – This Bonus Disc is only available on
the 3 disc and 4 disc deluxe editions. This special presentation
features the newly updated Born to Battle: Burma vs. Thailand
documentary and the extended edits of Fight Day and Bouts from the
Archives Part 2, which shows rare and unseen archive footage that
immerses the viewer into the competitive world of Lethwei.
